DAVY SMITH III

Founder

Mr. Davy Smith III a native of Portsmouth, VA and Founder/Member of Smith
Consulting and Networking, LLC as a business owner and he is also a private
consultant that provides comprehensive development consulting services to
municipals, university and private sector clients. He has served on various
boards in the Portsmouth community to include being the youngest and first
African American to become Chairman of the Planning Commission for the City
of Portsmouth at the age of 31. He just finished serving his 6th Chairmanship, and
has recently been appointed as a Commissioner of Newport Development
Authority. Mr. Smith made history again this year as the Youngest & First
African American as Chairman of (PRHA) Portsmouth Redevelopment Housing
Authority at the age of 38. Mr. Smith’s success includes coordination with public
officials on master plan funding requirements, discussions on possible tax
credits, and other benefits between public and private parties. Mr. Smith has not
only provided help for the public and private parties, but also evaluation of sites
for potential redevelopment to spur local business and employment. 
 Mr. Smith holds various professional and service group affiliations to include the
a Silver Life member of the NAACP Chapter of Portsmouth and serves as the
Second Vice President for the Branch and he also a member of Hampton Roads
Urban League Young Professionals where he served as Parliamentarian 2012-
15, I. C. Norcom Alumni Association as Vice President 2013-14, and an Active
member of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity, Inc. Zi Iota Graduate Chapter (Pi Gamma
Spring 02 NSU) also served as a member Whitney Young Jr. Social Work Club
at Norfolk State University, and the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) while
at NSU. He has served as a Mentor for the Brambleton Outreach Center, Norfolk,
VA and is a Certified Peer Advisor. Mr Smith also mentors the youth in his
hometown of Portsmouth, Va and the surrounding Hampton Roads area as
transformation and mindset coach . Smith earned his Bachelors’ degree in Social
Work from Norfolk State University in 2002. Mr. Smith is also active with
Portsmouth NSU Alumni Chapter as well. Smith has also been happily married for 9 yrs to the lovely Trena W. Smith.
